Welcome
About Kelly
Hi, I’m Kelly. I’m a freelance content, copy, and creative writer from New Hampshire with two decades of experience working in nonprofit and educational settings. I have an M.A. in English & Creative Writing, a B.A. in Human Services, and training in SEO, copywriting, and human rights.
I’m passionate about writing words that matter. For me, that means writing creatively about the beautiful and tough stuff–peace, courage, inclusive faith, personal growth, motherhood, and New England living–and helping organizations find the right words to share their important messages.
Whether I’m crafting reflections about the inner life or translating complex ideas into clear communication for organizations, my work is always rooted in care, clarity, and connection.
My Story
As a child, I grew up scribbling poems, songs, and journal pages as a way to make sense of myself and find moments of respite in a busy world. I never thought of writing as a career choice back then. It felt more like my natural way of living.
After graduating from Northeastern University, I spent nearly 13 years in nonprofit leadership, managing fundraising, special events, and volunteers, eventually serving as Vice President of Philanthropy. I wrote donor appeals, volunteer communications, and special event marketing materials and saw how purposeful writing can connect people in profound ways.
But when my daughter was born, my world shifted, as it tends to for many moms. I was drawn back to writing more than ever as a source of peace, encouragement, and hope in everyday life. Trusting that pull, I returned to school and earned a graduate degree in English & Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. Over time, I found my way here to support individuals and organizations through thoughtful writing that encourages, educates, and empowers.
A few fun facts
I live in New Hampshire with my husband and daughter and grew up in a nearby town with five apple orchards. I even got engaged in an apple tree.
I’m a certified Human Rights Consultant through the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. My passion for human rights often informs my creative writing.
I believe a bad day can turn around with the help of a cup of tea, a good laugh, and encouraging words. If it’s a real doozy, I’ll watch Pride & Prejudice for good measure (the Keira Knightley version).
When daydreaming, I’m picturing any of the following: reading a book in an English countryside cottage, dancing to hip-hop in pink high tops, or living in a tiny home next to a river with a water wheel.
